i really don't like likes, i want this to feel like a non-commital chill thing and encourage people to reply if they want to.

likes or reactions just replaces replies to something less nuanced and then it feels like a contest. for me it's a design pattern that really stresses me out, man. i want to make a little post and then talk about it when we hang out, or just check out what my friends are posting. if likes are introduced im gonna constantly check the site to see if someone likes my post and then it becomes this whole dopamine hit thing, that's exactly the social media pattern that makes me feel bad :( i understand it though, we've been so trained by social media now to get instant feedback / validation for all our interactions, but i feel like that just takes the focus away from conversation and good vibes. basically i want a social media that i don't have to check or compare myself with other posts who got the most likes. maybe you don't feel that pressure but i really do and im really aware of it. sorry for the rant haha but i feel quite strongly about this
